What you are voting for?

In a few hours, the polling stations will open and you, the voters, get the chance to tell us the candidates who you want to represent you at Westminster in the next parliament.

Although here in Bassetlaw we will only elect one MP, your vote and which party you choose is still important. You may choose John Mann as he has been seen to be an active local MP but he represents a party and is, above all, a very loyal and dependable Labour MP who in 14 years as our MP has only voted against the Labour line 32 times[1] . So it is time to look beyond the personality of the incumbent and what your vote really means.

The issues could not be clearer. On one side there are the Tories that would cut essential services in order to give tax cuts to its rich backers, on the other side there is Labour that would borrow even more money to make sure its Union backers get the policies they want and in between there are the Lib Dems who will make sure that the NHS, Education and other essential services are protected from the cuts and still reduce the borrowing to balance the books as soon as possible.

One Party that will bring Stability, Decency & Unity to Government. One Party that will invest £8 billion to improve our NHS & guarantee equal care for mental health. One Party that guaranteed education funding from nursery to 19. One Party who will balance the budget fairly and invest to build a high-skill, low-carbon economy. One Party that protect nature fight climate change. One party that will represent you, not the Unions, not big business & hedge funds, just ordinary people. One Party that will deliver a Stronger Economy, a Fairer Society and Opportunity for Everyone.

On Thursday, it is your chance to vote for a Party that will put the heart and the brains into whatever Coalition (and it will be a Coalition) takes office after the results have been declared. It is your chance to vote for the Liberal Democrats, your chance to vote for me, Leon Duveen to be your MP, your chance to vote LD4Bassetlaw

[1] By this I mean the number of times he has voted against the majority vote by members of the Labour Party. Unfortunately this will indicate that many members have rebelled in a free vote. Until precise data on when and how strongly each party has whipped is made available, there is no true way of identifying a "rebellion".
