Nottinghamshire County Council fails Bassetlaw
On Boxing Day (Friday) evening, about 4” of snow fell around Bassetlaw, not an unusual occurrence in late December. Sadly, Nottinghamshire County Council do not seemed to have been prepared for it.
Even today, 2 days later, we still have major routes in and out of the area that have not been cleared or gritted at appropriate times.
This is not good enough. The residents of the north of the County deserve to get just a good a service as those that live nearer Nottingham.
I have written a letter to the County Council’s Service Director for Highways, Andy Warrington to highlight my own experience of driving up through Mansfield to Worksop yesterday evening and will publish his reply here when I get it. You can do the same or you can take part in the survey that my Lib Dem colleagues in Ashfield, where the County Council have also failed to deal with the snow adequately, have set up.
Snow in December is not unusual, I can remember years when we had far more than just one overnight snowfall. What is unacceptable has been the response from the County Council.
